Enhanced luxury and enhanced sustainability at Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort.
Continuing initiatives to improve sustainability and create additional luxury through resort renovations and refurbishments will be the main talking point for Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in may.
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort is proud of its great progress in sustainability and continues to innovate and improve in all areas of operation. Upcoming projects include adding mechanical digesters and compactors to turn all food waste into gray water for landscaping and fertilizer. Investigations are underway to uncover further opportunities to reduce paper use and waste and to further reduce single-use plastics by partnering with toiletries suppliers and making reusable bottles available in the whole complex.
Recycling and waste reduction
Demonstrating Anantara’s ongoing commitment to sustainable hospitality, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort has partnered with sustainability consultant Radhika Arapally in an effort to positively impact waste management and efficiency energy by 20% in 2022. Initiatives to boost recycling have already led to a 102% increase in glass recycling across the resort.
Dedicated bins in all offices increased paper recycling by 18% and overall recycling nearly tripled from 4% in February to 11% in March. These improvements reduced waste to landfill by 19% and overall waste by 14% over the same period.
The addition of a flavored water dispenser removed 600 single-use plastic bottles from the resort’s fitness center. Anantara has finalized the move to a new coffee pod supplier with a commitment to ensure that all pods are now recycled. Facilities have been added for on-site soap recycling and while guest bathrobes are recycled and slippers recycled by partner companies.
Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort remains committed to staying at the forefront of luxury in Dubai with phase two of the resort’s renovation and refurbishment plan due for completion in 2022 and phase three in 2023. This exciting project includes the addition of eight pools at the resort’s popular overwater villas, providing even more floating luxury for every guest.
