Ashford Castle named best resort hotel in UK and Ireland
Ashford Castle has been voted the number one resort hotel in the UK and Ireland by readers of the iconic Travel + Leisure magazine, one of the world’s most trusted travel publications.
Each year, the American publication Travel + Leisure invites its nearly five million readers to share their opinions on their favorite travel experiences covering the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines and more. Again.
Hundreds of thousands of the publication’s readers responded, rating their top hotels based on facilities, location, service, food and overall value. Irish hotels won four of the five World’s Best Resort Hotel 2022 accolades in the UK and Ireland, with Ashford Castle earning the highest accolades. The five-star luxury hotel located in Cong, Co Mayo last won first place in the prestigious awards in 2020.
Several readers have praised the stately estate, calling the setting “absolutely charming” and “magnificent.” One particularly enthusiastic reader looked back fondly and said: ‘Just writing this reminds me of the beautifully served and delicious tea service, with Irish scones, mini sandwiches and sweets enjoyed by the bay windows overlooking beautifully manicured lawns and fountains.”
